V.I.P. is a software PostScript interpreter. It uses an Adobe kernel and is used to rasterize PostScript files and send them to a variety of destinations: files on disk or a Scitex pre-press system. It provides unique features such as on screen preview, intelligent vignette recognition as well as implementing the Scitex APR (automatic picture replacement) scheme where low resolution images are swapped with their high resolution counterparts. Visionary and V.I.P. constituted Scitex’s major involvement in DTP.
